Do female lions secure food for their cubs?

Apparently not. During the first three to four weeks the cubs suckle, which is gradually supplemented with meat. As soon as the cubs can walk properly the mother leads them to kills. When a lioness is very hungry, however, she will prevent the cubs from feeding until she has had her fill, and it is not uncommon for a female to take food from her cubs.
